Squat
The pattern behind sitting down, standing up and lowering under control.
The Functional Fitness Edit
A 12-week program designed to build practical strength, better movement and a body that feels capable beyond the gym.

Functional Strength
Functional fitness is not about being good at exercise. It's about building a body that is capable in the moments that matter.
Lifting. Carrying. Reaching. Balancing. Getting up from the floor. Moving with control. The Functional Fitness Edit trains strength as part of movement — so what you build in your workouts carries into everyday life.
Don't just build strength.
Build strength you can use.
Build strength through movements your body is designed to perform.
Develop balance, stability and coordination through every phase.
Turn strength into capacity you can use beyond the workout.
The Movement Patterns
Functional fitness is built around the patterns your body uses every day. The program teaches them first, then adds load, complexity and speed.
The pattern behind sitting down, standing up and lowering under control.
The pattern behind lifting from the floor and loading the hips safely.
Build upper-body strength for pressing, bracing and moving objects away.
Train back strength, posture and control through pulling movement.
Develop grip, core stability and posture under real-world load.
Challenge coordination, shoulder stability and cross-body control.
Real-Life Carryover
Sit. Stand. Lift. Carry. Reach. Balance.
The exercises change across the twelve weeks, but the patterns stay familiar. That is what allows strength to become useful, repeatable and transferable beyond the workout.
The 12-Week Progression
The program progresses across three four-week phases. Each phase keeps the movement patterns familiar while gradually increasing the challenge.
Learn the patterns
Weeks 1–4
Build control, movement quality and confidence with the fundamental patterns before adding more demand.
Focus
Add strength
Weeks 5–8
Increase load, challenge coordination and begin combining strength with more complex movement.
Focus
Use what you built
Weeks 9–12
Bring strength, control and capacity together with more demanding sessions designed for real-world performance.
Focus
Progressive by design
Foundation→Build→Perform
You are never thrown into complexity for the sake of it. Movement quality comes first. Challenge is layered on when the foundation is ready for it.
Fitness Checkpoints
Three simple assessments give you a practical snapshot of your functional fitness — then let you measure how it changes across twelve weeks.
Strength · Balance · Mobility
Lower yourself to the floor and stand back up again with as little support as possible.
Balance · Stability · Control
Hold a controlled single-leg stance for 10 seconds without touching down or grabbing support.
Strength · Carry Capacity
Track grip directly with a dynamometer, or use dead hangs or farmer's carries as a practical proxy.
Measure the change
Same tests.
Three moments.
Week 1
See where you are before the training begins.
Week 6
Retest halfway through and notice what is already changing.
Week 12
Repeat the same tests and compare your final numbers.
Progress you can see
Not a before-and-after photo.
A body that simply works better.
Inside The Edit
More than a list of workouts. The guide teaches the movements, structures the progression and gives you space to track what changes along the way.

Learn the movement
Clear setup, coaching cues, common mistakes and the purpose behind every exercise.

Follow the progression
Three structured training days each week, progressing from controlled movement to loaded, real-world strength.

Track the work
Record reps, effort and weekly reflections so progress stays visible across all twelve weeks.
Built to be used
Learn it.→Train it.→Track it.
Open the book, know what to do, record the work and come back stronger the next week.
